Re: Virtual OpenCPN - 'OpenCPN on a Stick'

if you really want a portable version NOW,here's one if anyone wants to ty it...XP ONLY at least I think so...
Made with JauntePE.report back if it works, don't bug me if it doesn't

the md5sum for PortableOpenCPN250.zip is 098e7e8c96295648c59ab962a03def62...

you will have to wait 50 seconds and then the 24 mb download takes 8 minutes

PortableOpenCPN250.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

Works well on my xp It's a bit strange exploring the virtual folders that disappear when you close OpenCPN

Re: Virtual OpenCPN - 'OpenCPN on a Stick'

Thanks,Richard...yes,it's odd but you see the clever logic JauntePE uses.
Thanks for reading the help note and "getting it". It has a virtual registry too.I checked the Windows registry on my clean machine and it didn't seem to leave entries except the records Windows keeps of "recent files"("MRU"?).
Of course the vcredist thing makes it unuseable for machines that haven't already got these installed so it's kind of a catch22-Portable if you have such-and-such installed..hah!
Any work-around for this,I wonder?...Not at my level,I bet.

1.36 doesn't need em though, does it?I have baked a version of it too.

It's a pity we cannot Point relatively to the charts in the charts tab of the toolbox

I can make available my virtual version of OpenCPN built on xp for others to test on vista and or 7 perhaps you could do the same At their risk of course

Regards

Richard
Richard!
I'd be happy to try yours out.. I've still got xp...I'm curious to see if it'll go without any "vcredist" installed

Re: Virtual OpenCPN - 'OpenCPN on a Stick'

would someone like to test against Win 7 I think camyeo bundles up all the files needed by opencpn so should be truly portable as it is all bundled in to a single .exe file

I almost sound as though i know what I am talking about

regards

richard
