VMG?

I have been using openCPN with my cmap charts. So far it seems like a great program. But I have been trying to find the VMG to the next waypoint. How do I get this? Also is the BRG and RNG in magnetic degrees? How do you change from true to magnetic? What does RNG stand for?

VMG is in the box labeled VMG.
No magnetic.
RNG = Range (= distance to the next waypoint/Last waypoint in thr route, depending on whether you are switched to the current leg or the whole route mode)
