Re: Watchdog Plugin

A great addition to OpenCPN.

In addition to the option to play a sound when an alarm condition is met the option to run a command is particularly powerful. With an internet connection and Skype it is easy to set up OpenCPN to send an SMS message to your phone if an alarm goes off. Here is a link with details of how to do this : https://www.loriotpro.com/Products/M..._client_EN.php

The only trigger missing that would be really useful is a simple depth alarm with "shallow", "deep", "in range" and "out of range" driven from the NMEA depth message from a transducer.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

The depth alarm remains unimplemented until I have a depth sounder opencpn can use. If has a depth sounder they can use and test, they could implement the alarm and submit a pull request.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Having an unusual thought over coffee and OpenCPN this morning:

I have one holding tank that doesn't have a deck fitting and must be pumped out overboard. Is there a way to make "Landfall" a negative value, so when I clear the 3 mile limit, Watchdog can notify me that it's now ok and legal to pump overboard?

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Why not try adding a Waste Holding Tank Alarm?
You have the related code from Sean's PI.
Then test it and make a PR to Sean.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Hi Team - new to OpenCPN, but so far loving it. I'm a Mac user, and pretty much everything I need is supported in the 5.x line on Mac.

The major exception to that is Watchdog. I'm primarily interested in the Anchor watch piece. Any chance that the Watchdog plugin will be ported to the Mac platform sometime soon?

Thank you all for the amazing work. I know how much love and energy it takes to make a project like this go !!

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Shane, would you mind trying the macos version of Tactics_pi that is found in the CF tactics thread? I need to know if it works.
Thanks.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

@rgleason - I'm definitely happy to test any of the MacOS pieces. But I'm not a "blow boater" ... so I'm not sure I can do much more than install and poke and prod at the plugin. In the field (next week), I'll be on a power catamaran (**). I'm happy to play with it - within the constraint that I'm on a power boat. If you have specific aspects you'd like tested, please let me know.

I can confirm that it installs successfully, I was able to enable the plugin, and I selected the pre-built "tactic", selected "show this tactics", and it displays correctly on the main chart.

Notes:
(**) - which is why I was hoping to have watchdog for MacOS - primarily for anchor alarm overnight next week ...

Re: Watchdog Plugin

I've tried intermittently all morning. Travis is not parsing for some reason. Will take some more work, but once I figure the problem out, it should work and produce a pkg file all the other pieces are in place.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

It is now parsing properly, now working on pushing to a new tag.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Boy, is this a picky process. Anyway we now have a MacOS file you can try.

https://github.com/rgleason/watchdog...ses/tag/v2.4.5
use Watchdog-Plugin-ov50_2.4.pkg

I will leave this up for a couple of days, but then I need to fix the incorrect version number.

When I run the installer I get this screen and nothing else.
