Re: Watchdog Plugin

Actually, ocpndraw does the same. I have install software from anywhere checked in settings. Other plugins work as expected.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

According to the log it's a signature issue. I can find no way to bypass the gatekeeper in this version of OSX, including the disable command at the cli.

Isn’t the anchor alarm feature in the base OpenCpn package? I use it all the time and I don’t think I have the watchdog plugin installed. Can’t check now as I’m not on the boat.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

New to macOS?
- Start the *.pkg file from the Finder where you have stored its download, probably the Downloads folder.
- Gatekeeper will prevent the start.
- Goto to macOS System-Settings Security.
- Select Open anyway.
- Select Open in the following requesters.

It is a shame the OpenCPN developers are not able to distribute a certificate for their software. They are even not able to distribute an installer for the main program (missing an OpenCPN.pkg). Many people new to macOS tried to start from the DMG which does not work. Obviously next macOS version Catalina will not work anymore with OpenCPN because of the ignorance of developers.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Okay, I got it to install but I'm having an alarm configuration issue. Once an alarm condition is met (inclusion zone exceeded), it will alarm by playing a sound and giving me the message box but after it plays the sound file once, it doesn't repeat it even though the condition is still met.

I couldn't get this method to work. I had to sudo install from the command line.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Dear Crayiii and Carcode,

Thank you for your blow by blow and very good suggestions.
I am very unknowing about macOS, but would like to know what is involved to get a certificate for OpenCPN and plugins. Where would I look to find out more?

I don't believe that alarms are a part of waypoints, however there were changes to the way rings are done and the option of tide station was added.

Can you see if this is repeatable, and please describe in more detail. We will need to see if this is a problem with other OS too.

It only happens if you choose to have a message box. The alarm (sound file) will play and the message box will display. After the sound file plays once, the message box has to be acknowledged and then the alarm will sound again.

This is messy (but different) on Windows where the sound will repeat but you'll also get a stack of message boxes on top of each other that you have to individually dismiss.

Without the message box, the alarm sound repeats.

Yes, this is a bug in both MacOS and Windows. Perhaps we should enter it in Tracker?

I have just avoided adding messages. Thanks for testing the watchdog plugin. With the exception of the above bug, would you mind advising me when you have tested it enough to say that it is stable and useful so we can release it?

Mean while I will make an new issue of this on github.

Thanks.

After googling for MacOS certificates, I get a bunch of links which show how to import an SSL certificate into MaxOS. I don't think that is what is needed. Also it looks like I would have to have a mac anyway, so that is not going to happen!

Re: Watchdog Plugin

I'm on anchor in Grenada and have tested it with draw (inclusion boundaries), anchor, and NMEA (loss of GPS) and it all works. Alarms just fine!

I'll be using it 24/7 for the next week or so while here.
