I always have the Anchor position on my chart plotter and entering that position manually in Anchor Alarm would be easier.
Thank you.

I requested this feature over a year ago, both here and on FlySpray. Also reported a bug where the plugin does not save the full resolution of the position upon shutting down OpenCPN. I don't think either has been looked at. Nice to see additional interest in this feature, maybe this will help.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Of course there is a way, someone programs it and submits a Pull Request. We are always looking for volunteer programmers, and we depend on these kinds of contributions.

Sean has been working hard on Pypilot and appears to be interested in other things right now. He may come back to help at some point.

I have been trying to maintain and move most of Sean's plugins into the Plugin Manager and have had the gracious help of Dave, Jon, Alec, Dan, Mike, Stelian and Petri (and other specialists) at times when there has been what seemed to be an insurmountable hurdle. I've been very lucky in that respect.

So get a friend to program it, test it out and then have them submit a PR.
Sorry, but I still have a number of Sean's Plugins to move into the Plugin Manager system and that is my first priority right now.

Or perhaps you'll get lucky and a programmer who uses Opencpn will see this and respond.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Another thing you could do is give a big donation to Sean using the "About" Tab,

Then PM him and thank him for the great watchdog plugin and ask nicely if he could make an improvement and describe it. It is not a bribe, it is an acknowledgement of his work.

Sorry I was away for a while.

I did contribute, not for the modification but in appreciation of an excellent tool that I use.

Thanks again

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Salty Soul, thank you. Would you mind adding your feature suggestion to the Tracker for Watchdog, we don't want to lose that idea and hopefully we can get it programmed. Tracker is in the opencpn.org toolbar. Register first.
Thank you!

Re: Watchdog Plugin

I am at home testing alarms in preparation for my cruise.
I tested Anchor and Exclusion Boundary (by distance) with no problem.
However, I cannot make Inclusion Boundary alarm to work.
Alarm is triggered and if “Graphic Enabled” checkbox is checked a line is drawn from the boat to Equator (Lat 0.00, Long 0.00). Same happens on my backup laptop with Windows 7.

What am I doing wrong?

OS Windows 10 &7 / OpenCPN 5.0/ OD 1.6 / WD 2.4/

Re: Watchdog Plugin

What version are you using please? I see 2.4 but there should be 3 I think.
I am using v2.4.20.0 installed with Pllugin Manager and I can confirm Inclusion does not work.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Attachment 222109I removed the WD and downloaded the WD plugin file (watchdog_pi-2.4.0-ov50-win32.exe) from OpenCPN website. I still can’t make it work.

Also, the first time that I make/enable a new Inclusion Alarm, the “Boundary Type” is grayed out.But when I edit an existing Inclusion Alarm, I could set the Boundary type.

Thanks for helping me.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Watchdog 2.4.21.0 has been qued up on opencpn/plugins and should land in the plugin master catalog soon. Inclusion boundaries and boundaries should be working properly now. We found that the odapi.h file which establishes communication formats was updated in ocpn_draw and needed update in watchdog.

Similar needs to be done for weather_routing.

I think this is the last post about the depth alarm. I was wounder about the status of plugin?

I have a suggestion for the depth part of the plugin.

Radio altimeter's on Aircraft call out distance to ground when on final approach.

50, 40, 30, 20, 10, retard...

I always liked the retard call out, As the definition is "Delay or hold back in terms of progress." something about the irony of your boat calling you a retard right before running aground.

I always thought this would be very useful when away from the instruments.

I have the sound files if interested....

Also the anchor alarm has saved me many times. I cannot thank the creators enough!

Re: Watchdog Plugin

No, no one has donated a depth sounder to my knowledge. See my previous post on this. You can donate towards this on paypal, go to "About" in his plugin.

Well we moved something to deliver a sounder, but without result.

Don't know if Sean's new boat has a sounder. And what his priorities are.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Yes, I had forgotten about that! I wonder what happened? I am sure Sean would not leave essential equipment on boat Alexandra when changing boats to the tri.

He is in the process of getting up to speed on the new plugin system and now has access to cloudsmith and is part of the plugin team. So that is good. I made prs back to his repository for many pi.

Now I think I remember, the Garmin GPSMap sounder did use nmea0183? It was a disappointment although everyone tried to confirm that. It is too bad someone doesn't send him an old digital depth sounder that has nmea0183 out! I keep trying to get my hands on one (two have escaped because the installers all take them on big gold plated boats!) It is very frustrating.
