Weather fax plugin assistance

Hi folks

I apologise in advance for what may seem a silly question but have searched all manuals, forums etc and remain unclear about the following.

Does the weatherfax plugin work via Pactor modem or will it only work with a line from the SSB to the audio input of my PC? I have tried to retrieve faxes using my Pactor 3 but only get a white page.....no black and white pixels coming down at all. I can hear a strong fax signal and have the frequency tuned to 1.9khz below the listed frequency.

Advice welcome

I am the author of the plugin and do not have a pactor modem.

The pactor modem creates a usb sound device correct? I am assuming this is not the primary or default capture source which is the reason for the problem. If, you could somehow set this device to the default capture device, the plugin should work. Alternately in the future, I will add support to the preferences to select the device index to use which should work as well.

No the pactor modem does not create a usb sound device. It is actually a com device which if properly configured can demodulate faxes and send you the actual pixels. You still have to build the picture.

Normally I use Airmail to receive my weather faxes then open them with the plug-in.

Oh well, at least I can receive fax with my usb sound card now, or with a bluetooth microphone.

So the pactor actually decodes the fax and somehow sends the image over a serial port. I have no idea how to interface with that.

The PTCs work with an extended AT style command set detailed here:

Sorry for the delay, but I was out of range of internet.

You can get more info in the manual.
