The problem is persistent with the install of the new 5.1.8RC candidate I installed this morning, so I would suspect something in the plugin causing the issue.

Couldn't install the tarballs from these links, but the new version (1.13.14.0) in the plugin manager fixes it. Thanks!

Today, I did the big laundry for the OpenCPN versions. All installed versions were carefully uninstalled then CCleaner.

Then I reinstalled the OpenCPN 5.1.712 + 392640c version found on the cloud, a newer version than the official RC3 version.


THEN : Problem with WR :


5 ° CRASH
OpenCPN Crash by starting the WR 1.13.14.0 plugin. I disabled JonGough's TestPlugin plugin, it didn't change anything.
That said, OpenCPN re-start and work with the other plugins.

Ok, Gillle we have to get into the wiring now.

Since you have installed fresh, this is good. Perhaps WR is not initializing correctly.
In the change to Plugin Manager the location of certain plugin files were changed.
Perhaps WR has not installed them correctly.

First of all please advise what is the WxRoute version number?
OS: I believe it is still Windows for you.
Opencpn Version: ???

Then please look in these places:
%localappdata%/opencpn/plugins which is the same as C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugins

find weather_routing_pi.dll and directory weather_routing
under weather_routing directory find data directory with "boats" "polars" and *.svg files and weatherroutingconfiguration.xml

These files are first copied into opencpn when weatherrouting is installed so it is not surprising that you find them there.

The next part is more critical, in order for users to be able to edit certain files they need to be stored in a read/write location. That location will be the old standby

C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins
Please tell me what you find in there related to weather_routing.

Oh, also by now you know that I am going to ask for your ini and log data too. (Now I see you provided it below.)

Is this the entire log file, or did you just cut it off? Does the log file just trail off like this, indicating some problem in the copy process?


(If this is really the end of the log file, I am going make a wild guess that there is some malformed polar file in the polar files that I added?)
Please try removing:

C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing_pi\ data\polars\Additional (folder)


and C:\ProgramData\opencpn\\plugins\weather_routing\\p olars\Additional\ (folder)



and try Weather_routing again.

Would you mind trying to Install the Plugin from a Tarball?


Pick the "msvc" tarball from these files and download it.

Perhaps you are not getting a full download.
Then install it from the Options > Complement > Importer un Plugin

Quick and incomplete response:

The installation being entirely new, the ini file is the new one this morning, and similarly, the log file is the new one this morning. So it is very short. I did not cut the log file. I put the whole log file.

I think the main problem is copying over a lot of polar files from polar/additional
There are about 500 files. Perhaps I have to remove that.
