Re: Weather Routing

RGleason,

In the plugins, there is a "Plugins" folder, which contains a "Weather_routing" folder. In this folder, there is a "Polars" folder which contains four 60ft and an "Additional" folder which contains only 21 polar files.

In addition, I enclose part of the compressed "Plugins" folder. I hope this will help you.

Gille

I think you might be talking about this folder
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing\pol ars

in that Additonal folder there should be

In the
%localappdata%\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing_pi\ data\polars
or
C:\Users\[User}\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugins\weather_routin g_pi\data\polars

In the Polars should be 126 polars and two directories Additional and Example.
Example has 5 files
Additonal has 543 polars

Normallly these would all be copied to your
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing\pol ars

but they were not. Something failed.

Re: Weather Routing

Before I update the Master Catalog, would you mind trying this version which has removed the 543 additional polar files? Pick the msvc tarball and Import Plugin please.

https://cloudsmith.io/~opencpn/repos...3.15.0*tarball

If you can clear out all of weather routing that would be good, from both locations

n the
%localappdata%\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing_pi\ data\polars
or
C:\Users\[User}\AppData\Local\opencpn\plugins\weather_routin g_pi\data\polars

C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing\pol ars

Re: Weather Routing

You are welcome. Use version 1.13.16.0 without the additional polars (They will not be added again). I know that works, and it appears that v1.13.14 also works. Thanks for the through testing before reporting. I spent another afternoon on it.

Re: Weather Routing

Unless someone else tests in Weather_routing and properly formats these 543 Additional Polars, they will not be added to the data directory.

I looked in this page:
https://cloudsmith.io/~opencpn/repos...ckages/?page=1

it seems to me that version 1.13.16.0 is available, for windows, in the mingw version, but not in the msvc version.

Is this normal?

Re: Weather Routing

Do a search on that link like this "1.13.16.0*msvc*tarball"

But don't worry about it. Hopefully Dave will be updating the plugins master catalog with my PR.

I read your post on WR. I have found also that the new *.*.*.16 version crashes O5.2. Went back to .14 and it is fine.

Re: Weather Routing

SCarns

I don't believe that is the case. It is the exact same code with all the additional plugins removed, simply because someone had some trouble with a new installation and then found that it worked!

Furthermore, I installed and used it myself, in Windows and Ubuntu with clean installs.

So unless the failure can be established by multiple crashes and multiple logfiles documenting the problem. I am not going to do anything more about it. Sorry.

Yesterday I tried to install the mingw version of 1.13.16.0 without success.
Is it because the mingw version cannot be installed on my PC? I do not know.

That said, this morning I did the search for the msvc version and I found the one you compiled about 14 hours ago.

And I was able to install this msvc version without difficulty. And there was no crash when I launched WR using the previous settings.

Bravo for the work done.

Re: Weather Routing

An observation :

This version of weather-routing, used here with oeSENC charts, is not able to detect the earth. The proof the route obtained passes through the tip of the island.

Re: Weather Routing

Gilletarom, Dave has offered to check and look at initialization problems which I really appreciate. In my testing of newly built plugins it may not work the first time, so will I try it again. If in testing and using the plugin you learn something about startups and initialization, it would be really helpful to know that. Thanks.

If you try to run a mingw plugin, you need the mingw Opencpn program! IE msvc plugin = msvc opencpn
mingw plugin= mingw opencpn
They both run on Windows but they are totally different systems and compilations.

This is logical: WR can't check vector chart objects. It uses the GSHHG background charts. That's why the high resolution version of the background chart shall be in place.
