Re: Weather Routing

I found this reference in the manual with regard to enabling OpenGL.
https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...#enable_opengl

Quote:
"You need to activate OpenGL in order to have the route display on top of the grib layer!"

Perhaps that will give a clue about if isochrones worked without opengl turned on.

Hans now reports:

There are 4 drivers that are not the latest according to Intel Driver & support Assistant.
This is going to take a while. Will get back to you when finished. Maybe tomorrow.

Re: Weather Routing

I find the OpenCPN 5.x.x useless if you try using it for running weather routing. OpenCPN 4.8.4 works just fine. I am only using this for weather routing.
What happens is the program freezes/hangs.
This can happen in several different phases of the computation.
1) Just as soon as you open the weather_routing window.
Note the blank square at the left bottom corner and the fact that no configuration are displayed in the weather routing window.
If you click and move the weather routing window the blank square in the left lower corner disappears and the configurations are displayed.

Re: Weather Routing

2) Choosing a configuration does not light up the Compute or Export button.
Also notice the blank square is back.
Again, moving the weather routing window make the blank square disappear and the buttons to be displayed accurate.

Re: Weather Routing

3) Trying to pan the chart does nothing until you move the weather routing window. This is very irritating as you don't know how far you moved the chart. You need to move it in small steps and in between also move the weather routing window, some times twice as in the video blow, to know where you are.
Here is screen recording of what it looks like:

I will describe other hangings tomorrow. Sleep is needed.

Re: Weather Routing

Updated the 4 drivers including graphics driver.
No change. Still hangs as before.

OpenGL report attached.

Re: Weather Routing

hasse...
Two things:

1. Please post your OpenCPN logfile here.
2. As a test, try the weather_routing plugin with OpenGL OFF. Use only Climatology data, no GRIBs. Let us know the results.

Thanks
Dave

Re: Weather Routing

Dave,

Running without gribs gives the same result.

Logfile is coming.

I suppose you want a "clean" logfile I.e. I should delete it before starting OpenCPN

Re: Weather Routing

Using OpenCPN 5.6.2 on MacOS 12.4, the latest version (1.9.33) of the weatherfax plugin gives me an error message (attached) on first run. The system seems to work fine anyway.

Amojori, this is the weather_routing thread. Please post these in weatherfax, however we know this problem now and I can fix it. Thanks.

Re: Weather Routing

Dave,

Looks like it may have to do something with the .ini-file.
Deleting it seemed to rectify the problem at this moment in time.
I know I tried this before with no joy.
It's going to take me a while to get back to the error state.
Will be back later.

Re: Weather Routing

Dave,

Ohoh, still problem even with clean ini-file.
Seams less frequent now.
Will run without OpenGL and gribs.
Link to log-file with OpenGL and gribs (with failure as on picture)

By the way, how do you increase the font size ?

Re: Weather Routing

Hello,
Made the test of version 1.13.43.0 on Windows 11
Plugin installed correctly but crashed OpenCPN completely when starting the plugin.

Can provide more inputs/logs on demand.
