Re: Weather Routing

Hans,
I think you might have a messed up weatherroutingconfiguration.xml file.
It is time to start over and get it working.

Rename that to weatherroutingconfiguration.xml.old and save any other of your customized files somewhere.

Then remove weather_routing and all related weather_routing directories.
copy your opencpn.ini to opencpn.ini.old
following https://opencpn-manuals.github.io/ma...r_installation

Then follow https://opencpn-manuals.github.io/ma...t_installation

and verify that it works. Then you can build from there.

I think it is the box where the chart information is displayed. It pops up for some reason when the program hangs.

No problem with any other pi.

Yes, in fact the gribs need not be enabled to experience the hanging.

I will backup all of opencpn under ProgramData and do a complete reinstall of OpenCPN 5.6.2 with only plugin Clima and weatherrouting.

This will of course take a while. I have other things also I must attend to.
Will be back later today probably.

The installation directories are not in ProgramData.
You must do all the steps noted. Try the path %localappdata% and look for opencpn then follow it down.

I know, they are under Program(x86).
The "configuration" files are under Programdata\opencpn and that is what I need to back up not to loose my routes, waypoints etc.

One thing puzzles me. There are no plugins under C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN 5.6.2\plugins besides the 4 "standard" ones.
Where do the added pi's go ? This must be different compared to 4.x.x

That is what I am telling you,

type in %localappdata%/opencpn/plugins/

Re: Weather Routing

I did a clean install of OpenCPN 5.6.2, deleted all under ProgramData/opencpn and added Clima and WR.
Installed high res. chart.
Did a weather route from Provincetown to Lizards Point and it routs ok.
Then started to move around and got a hard hanging. Had to kill the program.

Re: Weather Routing

Deleted installation and configuration files under ProgramData and all under Appdata/opencpn, Did a new installation as I in the previous had loaded my own polar. No high resolution basic chart either this time.

I.e. nothing was changed from install.

Routed ok. When zoomed in and moving around I had to move the weather routing window to make the chart be repainted.

If minimizing OpenCPN and then maximizing again there is no chart. You need to move the weather routing window to make it appear.

This is the very familiar behavior I have seen all the time with any 5.x.x

I don't think you can make it much simpler than this.
I can try without OpenGL perhaps.

Re: Weather Routing

Dave, Rick,

I think we have a break through here. I have a much more precise awareness of when you need to move the weather window to repaint the chart after it is hung.

Someone of you should test this.

Here it is:

As long as the weather routing window is completely within the computer screen there is no hanging.

If you place it so that the right edge is outside of the screen and then move it slightly to the right (more of it is outside the screen) everything is ok, but if you move it to the left and still have a part of it outside the screen you can not zoom/pan or whatever. You must place it completely within the screen or move it to the right.

Hello Dave, (Also for Rick)

Sorry for my rookie mistakes. Trying to come up to speed as quickly as possible.

I see that you expect some simple test protocol.
Can U use Google docs document & update prepared sheet for WF, WR & TAC.
Please describe it as precisely as possible so we all use the same test protocol.
I suppose that "open" test phases will follow on your request.

For the log files, can you tell me exactly what are the expected ones?
Can you add this information in the "Instructions" sheet of the Google docs document?
Please tell us if we need to initialise the log files before test phases.

Please also describe where are the files we need to check or delete or save to be able to process the tests correctly or to provide you with all expected inputs.

If you can tell us which actions to take to resolve OpenCPN crashing issues, it will also help a lot.

The more you will describe there the better to have testers processing your requests with the best value possible for you. I'm trying to help from my side updating & improving the Google docs workbook. I think this should be the reference for all the testers.
Hope you appreaciate my efforts.

Best regards,
Raoul
