Re: WeatherFax ...

@jsakovits

Using WD v2.4.22.0 with O v5.2.0+4d956e1 I've used the image manager to convert a file and find that it works properly and as expected. This plugin was installed using the Plugin Manager using the Master Catalog.

If you are hitting image limits cut the image in half and do the two images separately.

https://historicalcharts.noaa.gov/image=1210TR-05-1990
The zip file says "This image is split into multiple images"

These files total 72 mb and the individual files are 59mb and 19mb.

Weatherfax was designed and programmed to take small sized fax files <1mb from the Noaa and other Weather websites, or via NOAA radio signals and overlay them on regular charts. It is very capable for this purpose. The plugin does not have adequate memory management to support such large files, in my opinion. It is amazing that it at least worked partially. Perhaps by resizing the files you can make them work better.

As I suggested via email earlier, review at the Advanced Chart tools under Supplementary Programs in the wiki. You may find some tools there that are useful.

I just see the old stable macOS version of OpenCPN 4.8.8 is not available anymore. I don't know why it was removed. You can download it here:

You have always to use the plugin version intended for the specific OpenCPN version. See here:
https://www.opencpn.org/OpenCPN/plugins/weatherfax.html
So for OpenCPN version 5.x you need plugin version 5.x and for OpenCPN version 4.x you need plugin version 4.x. Hopefully this is not too confusing.

Yes, it’s very clear! But the problem, maybe I can’t explain this, there isn’t a working link for the plug-in! (Mac version). I hope that now it’s clear

Yes, now I see. The website opencpn.org seems to be completely broken.
