Re: WeatherFax ...

Yes it has changed and the files need to be updated again.

Look at the manual to find out more. Explained there

Re: WeatherFax ...

I've updated weatherfax frontend to Jon Gough's v1.0.167. To test the update you can download the appropriate environment tarball here https://cloudsmith.io/~opencpn/repos...es/?q=1.9.14.3 and use Options>Plugins>Import Plugin to install it.

ThomTraub has made several PR's to the github repository to update the UK url'sand several other improvements. See this example

https://github.com/rgleason/weatherfax_pi/pull/51

We would like similar PR requests to update and improve the weatherfax urls and coordinatedatasets.xml so that all users will benefit.

Additionally, we'll be working on cleanup and improvements for awhile.

Re: WeatherFax ...

We need someone to update the weatherfaxinternetretrieval.xml and coordinatesets.xml files for the Ocean Prediction Center ("Noaa OPC" in the weatherfax files) the URL and faxes have changed.

Atlantic OPC https://ocean.weather.gov/Atl_tab.php
Pacific OPC https://ocean.weather.gov/Pac_tab.php
Alaska Artic https://ocean.weather.gov/AK_tab.php

We would also like the GOES Surface Temperature 4 day average added at the end.
https://ocean.weather.gov/sst/newSST/GOES_SST.php

For each of these areas we need at least 24, 48, 72, 96 hour faxes for 500mb, surface, wind & wave, wave period and direction.

The loop products page may be helpful
https://ocean.weather.gov/Loops/inde...&days=1&loop=0
Also the mobile products may be useful too, like this
https://ocean.weather.gov/mobile/mobile_atl.php

Ideally the changes would be made by github pull request.

Do we have any volunteers out there?

Re: WeatherFax ...

Weatherfax v1.9.14.20 will soon be available in PIM, thanks to filochard for his testing.

-Improvement of icons using svg
-Interface improvements by ThomTraub
-Navy urls added from David Burch.
-European urls improved and updated by ThomTraub

Please note that many of the urls and faxes still need to be tested and updated and that we still need to add good urls and coords for certain areas of the world.

Someone needs to check and update the entire weatherfaxinternetretrieval.xml.

Re: WeatherFax ...

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN THIS PLUGIN

WxInternetRetrieval for NOAA (US) has been updated and coordinatesets updated.
Other parts of the world will have to be updated in the form of Github Pull Requests.

We are looking for git savy skilled users who can update weatherfax files on a regular basis (approximately 6 months) and be responsible for certain areas of the world.

The areas responsibility suggested are:
- USA
- South America
- Europe
- Australia and New Zealand
- Asia
- Malaysa

This is a fairly regular task that needs to be done by experienced users to maintain the plugin properly. Please sign up for one of these areas and maintain it.

VOLUNTEER MAINTAINERS NEEDED

VOLUNTEER MAINTAINERS NEEDED

There are two volunteer Maintainers so far:

rgleason: USA- Pacific & Atlantic, Noaa, Noaa OPC, NOAA OPC 00Z, Navy, PWxPacific, PWxAmerAtlantic, Aviation Weather

thomtraub: European- German Weather DWD, LaMMA HiRes & LoRes, UK MET, WeatherchartsUK, PWx Euro Atlantic

Maintainer Positions Available

We need the following positions filled as soon as possible as we need updates and improvements to these URLs and Coords files!
  • South America
  • Europe
  • Australia and New Zealand
  • Asia
  • Malaysa
Maintainers should

1. Have or get free opensource github accounts
2. Fork weatherfax and keep it updated
3. Make changes locally and push those changes their online weatherfax repository.
4. To make PR or Pull Requests, Follow ThomTraub's example here where he added the new LaMMA urls & coords and update European URLs. This is the most effective way to update.
5. Then make a pull request to update the github.com/rgleason/master branch for the weatherfaxinternetrieval.xml and coordinatesets.xml files.
6. Update their world "area" regularly and as needed (every 3-6 months)
7. Accept and handle URL and coord changes for their "area", as noticed/commented by users reporting in this thread or on github issues and submit resolving PR's.

Thank you.

There is a new version weatherfax v1.9.16.0 available in PIM with url updates for European and US.

Re: WeatherFax ...

We still need volunteer maintainers for:
  • South America
  • Australia and New Zealand
  • Asia
  • Malaysa
Please step up to the task or these areas will become neglected and useless. Seriously, we really need some folks to take responsibility here. It is the USERS who must maintain this plugin. It is not a programmers job!!!

In the past Hans-Uwe and I have updated the entire world. This is burdensome for everyone and I don't expect this to happen ever again. I am too busy to do it too.

Also I am accepting a PR from ThomTraub to break the large weatherfaxinternetretrieval.xml into smaller files by region. We have discussed this with Sean and he is ok with doing this. This may make maintenance easier as well.
