Which OpenCPN version on Android

I was just about to install OPENCPN for my Android but I see 2 different ones I can install.
1 is FREE and 1 costs $9.95.
Is there a difference? Or are there features that cost? I have no problems paying but I am confused.

Happy...

The "free dollars" version is community supported, unmaintained, and nearly two years out of date. But it does work fairly reliably for some non-critical applications..

The paid version is fully supported by the lead developer of OCPN, provides access to a dedicated OpenCPN for Android support forum, and is based on the current OCPN code base. It is updated periodically for bug fixes and feature upgrades, including additional plugins, chart types, etc.

You do not have permission to access this page. This could be because of one of the following reasons:

Spam checked, nothing there. Any ideas?

Yes, but what version is the paid version based on? I'd be happy to buy the newer version if it includes prebuilding the SENC files. ENC charts are slow if you don't. (Long an issue, and glad to see it in 4.6.1)

Re: Which OpenCPN version on Android

Waterman480,

The current release of the paid version of OpenCPN for Android is 1.0.12. It was released January 23, 2017.

The Options > Charts screen in 1.0.12 has the "Prepare all ENC Charts" feature as does the 4.6.1 version for Win, Linux and Mac.

1.0.12 does not have the "Settings for Inland ECDIS" that is included in 4.6.1.

I run 4.6.1 on Win 10 and I have 1.0.12 on an inexpensive Android seven inch tablet.

Re: Which OpenCPN version on Android

Thank you Paul. That was the answer I was hoping for. I wish he had kept the version numbers in sync with the base build.

Re: Which OpenCPN version on Android

Dave's Android versions seem to get released between new releases for Win, Linux, Mac. There are some differences between the Android versions and the more traditional versions of OpenCPN, and this might be the reason for having different version numbering schemes.
