White Background for Pilot Charts in Open CPN

Good day I am a novice with Open CPN Could anyone tell me in simple language if possible how can I achieve a white background for the Pilot Charts.
Those that I have downloaded and installed are extremely dark. Thank you.

You need to edit the charts if you do not like the color palette they contain. There are command line tools that will help you with that if you decide to do it.

Also make sure you are actually not in duck or night mode, as the default day palette in the pilot charts, while certainly not having white background, is not something I would personally call "extremely dark".

Tool bar - Color scheme --> Day --> Dusk --> Night --> and back...
