Wiki Changes

Changes made:

Redirected all pilot chart downloads to the main website Resources etc.
Removed all pilot charts from Media Manager.
Removed GSHHS High Res 97mb from Media Manager
Checked for all links with a search. They appear to be going elsewhere.

There are a few Porto Rico sample files under Charts Sources that are left.
These are not on the main website Resources. Are they useful to new users? Do we need them? Please advise if they can be removed.

Hi Rick
I think the Puerto Rico samples are not needed anymore. As described further below, they are part of the NOAA charts available via the Chart-Downloader.

I think, since we now have the Chart-Downloader, that section can be omitted.

Re: Wiki Changes

Deleted this, as it is now clear that this was a pure political gambit.

Quote:
Note: The motivation for releasing the East Asia Hydrographic Charts is well worth reading. \\
//Realizing that official and high quality small scale ENCs conforming with the established IHO standard were not available for the SCS, the EAHC MSs decided to cooperate closely and resolve the situation so that mariners could use most up-to-date chart information for voyage planning and enhancing safety of navigation, rather than resorted to some commercially developed electronic products which were either prepared in proprietary formats, or containing unofficial data with very infrequent updating…// \\
//It was the view that if the SCS ENC could be freely and widely available to mariners, it would further enhance the safety of navigation in the region. This in turn could reduce the chances of environmental damage from grounding and oil pollution, which have tremendous cost impact.// \\
//The EAHC decided to provide the SCS ENC to users free of charge.//

Deleted this not a good certificate.

* //**1yachtua.com**// covers the Mediterranean and the Eastern Caribbean with BSB2 charts.

Also cleaned up the formatting which was all messed up for some reason.

Re: Wiki Changes

Well that page was certainly a charming mess. Format duplicates and garbage everywhere.

Image Processing on the Wiki - ImageMagick Converter?

We need to improve the image processing and storage on the wiki.
This would also result in less work when creating the Release Documentation in html. So there is an improvement in two places.

Dokuwiki supports ImageMagick Converter.
https://www.imagemagick.org/script/convert.php

Does anyone know this software well and can vouch for it's image quality and stability?
1. It can resize overly large images uploaded to Opencpn dokuwiki.
2. It can change them to jpeg.
3. It can compress them to the value we want.

Can anyone who knows this software provide the required command line?
https://www.imagemagick.org/script/c...processing.php

This looks pretty straight forward. I can find the parameters we need later.

Does anyone know how it would work on dokuwiki?
Will it just convert files that are actively being uploaded or will it also convert all the existing media image files?
https://www.imagemagick.org/script/convert.php

Implement this converter on the wiki in a multi step way.
A. Test on on a local server.
B. Review results and fine tune.
C. Install imagemagick on the opencpn.org dokuwiki server and implenent.

After this, the next step for images is to create a comprehensive set of OpenCPN Menus & Icons with standardized naming, and then interleave and replace all the menu & Icon screenshots.

This should help reduce duplications and make maintenance and updating screenshot changes easier.

Are there any volunteers to help? PM me or post here please.
