Wind Question

There are Pilot Charts for the oceans. Is there a similar publication for wind direction and velocity for the continental U.S.? Thank you.

Re: Wind Question

An interesting question, I'm curious to see if anyone has a resource similar to a pilot chart. The data is out there, but I don't know of anything in the pilot chart format. A couple I use, but you have to enter a specific station:

https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/sites/locate.php

https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/wps/portal...RoseResources/

These can generate/provide a monthly wind rose plot for a given station based on historical records, similar to the sample below. The NRCS provides canned monthly plots, the IEM site will allow you to define the plots (only daytime winds, or from 9-11 in the morning, or whatever you dream up).

Re: Wind Question

FYI Climatology_pi is a substitute for Pilot Charts. It has about 30 years of NOAA Data. It does not have land data however.
