Anyone have any comments or problems running Open CPN on windows 8?

No, as long as your GPS is supported there (older BU-353 are not, for example), it works just fine. There's quite a few threads with this subject already, BTW.

Running Windows 8 here with a BU-353. The current drivers don't work with some (most?) versions of the BU-353. If yours doesn't work (mine didn't) search for version 1.5 of the drivers and use those. If your Windows is set up to automatically update drivers (default) you'll need to change this in the control panel so the working drivers aren't overwritten by the newer, non-working drivers.
