For consistency you may have a suggest for these to radar_pi as well?

I'm happy to take a look. But I'm not familiar with the plug in. Can you give me a brief explanation of what each icon represents please?

The figures are different stages in the radar plugin. The names would describe but see my link below. So the circles would represent the radar rings and the red spots echoes when in transmit mode. So I think its the background outside the rings that need to be consistent to the others you did.

Icons explained: https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/...asic-operation
The plugin download (For Win so far):

Yes, I built from Git master two hours ago so it's not reflected in the beta download.

Re: Windows PlugIns for OpenCPN 4.99?

My experience with OpenCPN 4.99.1408+0395280 and 5.0 Beta Plugins

- watchdog_pi-2.4.0-win32
- launcher_pi-1.1-win32
do not seem to be compatible
and I have to remove them or O crashes.

- sar_pi-1.1-win32
does not load into this version of windows. It appears under plugins but does not show in the available plugins window.

- vdr_pi-0.4-ov50-win32 Seems to be translating gpx files as pure html rather than converting them into nmea sentences. Or am I doing something wrong here.? See attached Nmea Window Please.

IAC Fleet

The IAC Fleet Plugin seems to be partially working, but it is difficult to find the files when they are loaded and should be showing. It would be very nice to have a "Center IAC Files"

Also the animation part does not seem to be working very well, but it might be the way I am using the files.

Not sure if the NOAA IAC Fleet website is working at present, but I do have 2.13.2019 files downloaded. They just don't make an animation.

Also the fleet:nadi to saildocs does not seem to work now.

Maybe try to test the current version for O5 beta, not one from 2016.

Actually I'm not sure. I've not seen it myself and tried to find a situation in the code where this state can occur but haven't found an obvious occasion. Since the radar_pi is adapted for various radar types this icon can be meant for a possible future where there is a state between a radar not seen on the network and radar connected. The code is somewhat complicated but my best answer would be:
"Radar seen" is a state where a network connection is about to be established. For the moment rarely or not used but we can't ignore the icon.
Thanks for your efforts on this.

I've added ICONs for the Radar pi and sorted them into sub-folders.
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/f...ZW7rol7lPI22WW

I've also noticed that there is some discrepancy in the display of these svg files. Google drive(in Chrome) and my graphics design app display them with X&Y reversed compared to OpenCPN and Google Chrome. I've flipped them so they should be the right way around in OpenCPN.

Let me know what you think.

Re: Windows PlugIns for OpenCPN 4.99?

John..
They are not really consequent to the inbound icons.

Discussion:
Instead of black and white they are all gray and white, except the "hidden" one.
  • The hidden type would more fit a stand-by state but with the heading line?
  • The radar_active wouldn't hurt if you give it blurred red spots and a blurred gray arc, even if that's not quite monochrome? (The arc indicates an alarm zone) and else as the (new) stand-by?
  • The searching as is but black background?
  • So what for the hidden? The state is stand-by but menu and alarm zones are not visible. Black, one ring with a tick? (=>Alive but aviating a user action)
That's my quick thoughts.

Hi Håkan,

I'm not sure I follow you.

Apart from the MOB. The new inbuilt ICONs (EG GRIB) are made up of just 3 colours, all of them are shades of grey:-
Inactive background: Darkest grey at RGB 0x282828
Active background: Middle grey at RGB 0x898989
Detail: Lightest grey at RGB 0xB4B4B4
If you look at the action of the GRIB or tracking ICONs, they have a mid grey background when active. My new versions are consistent with that. They are also consistent in that they don't use any other colours. Excepting the MOB ICON; I think this makes for a better look and is why I raised the issue a few post ago.

The restricted palette means that the ICON design must be simpler, this is the trend with apps in general and I think it's better.

Regarding the ICON shapes:-
I agree it would be better to have a heading line on hidden ICON.
I think additional colours would detract from the new theme.
Bluring is a nice idea, but it doesn't render well at the small size used.

Or have I missed your point?

Cheers,

John

Re: Windows PlugIns for OpenCPN 4.99?

Have raised Flyspray #2473.

Low priority but ...

Seeing two different icons for the same plugin could confuse beginners. e.g. Grib plugin monochrome on the toolbar and a windsock on the plugins selection page. Suggest a similar icon should be used for docs/plugin selection/toolbar/plugin dialog.

Good idea Mike and since these are scalable they could be the existing inactive toolbar icons.
