Woes launching compiled version 4.8 on Raspberry Pi 3

OpenCPN invokes, but does not launch GUI. A screen pops stating the user interface cannot start, complaining about: "No styles found" See log snippet below.

sudo make install
should copy all the data files to their correct location, did you run it?

Tried the openplotter image?

It's extremely powerful, opencpn preinstalled with all plugins.
