Re: Xinutop-nav, dedicated marine OS for x86

Bonjour bzs,

Thanks for your interest and your suggestion.
The goal of Xinutop is to offer a nautical base system and only a nautical base system, leaving total freedom for user to install as it want, according to the necessity, hardware requirements, depends, size, etc...
So your suggestion of a bundle of package is at the opposite side of Xinutop concept !

But I am not against, addons, plugins, derivatives. You can put your addon on a webserver and if it stable, I put a link to it on marinux website.

Other: I would close this thread and continue with V2.1 http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2405492

Other: I would make a small gallery of Xinutop running on differents hardware, could you send photos with devices references ?

Re: Xinutop-nav, dedicated marine OS for x86

From Fiete:
Bonjour Frank,

your Xinutop is very good.

In your latest version I found a bug.
The resolution of the dispay is always 800x600, one cannot change it.

The height of all images on the screen is too small.
So circles on seacharts appear as ellipses.

Greetings

I presume that the version is 2.3 (august 18)
With so few elements I can't do nothing for you.
Do you use the "real" or the VirtualBox version ?
If real version, what is the video chipset ?

Hi Frank,
I forgot to mention that changing the resolution of the display works with your older
xinutop-16-01c.img
with the same laptop.

Re: Xinutop-nav, dedicated marine OS for x86

Bonsoir Fiete,

Xinutop above Win 10, very strange, I presume some error...

800x600 only:
It's possible that the open-source driver Ati/Radeon don't work correctly.
Try the non-free driver as this:

# apt-get update
# apt-get install firmware-amd-graphics

If OK, this driver will be integrated in the next version.

Re: Xinutop-nav, dedicated marine OS for x86

Bonsoir Frank,
At the moment I'm in Europe.
I couldn't get to the Internet with the debian Xinutop and my new PC.
The internal wifi was turned of and I was not able to turn it on.
Intel AC 3168. My Linux is not so good.

I put the same USB-Stick into a laptop from 2009. There I could change the resolution of the display.
But also there, I was not able to activate the internal wifi-card. This PC had a lamp, where one could see the status of the wifi-card.
Broadcom b/g adapter.

On Windows the change of the status worked, when I pressed the wifi-button.

On my boat the wifi is over ethernet. I will try if it works there when I'm back in November.

Greetings from Hamburg

Re: Xinutop-nav, dedicated marine OS for x86

Bonjour Frank,

I found 2 driver packages:
1) firmware-amd-graphics_20161130-3_all.deb
2) firmware-amd-graphics_20161130-3~bpo8+1_all.deb

But "dpkg -i firmware etc." is not working. Package not found.
But I don't know where to store the firmware file.
And I don't know if "dpkg -i" would work, if the firmware package is at the correct place.

Where is this: ~$
or that: ~#

"iw dev" and

"ip link set dev wlan0 up" or

"rfkill unblock all" also don't work.

Re: Xinutop-nav, dedicated marine OS for x86

Run the command from the same directory where you have the files.
Use sudo

Code:
sudo dpkg -i firmware-amd-graphics_20161130-3_all.deb

Code:
sudo dpkg -i firmware-amd-graphics_20161130-3~bpo8+1_all.deb

Re: Xinutop-nav, dedicated marine OS for x86

Bonjour Frank

I stored the package in home\marinux and got it loaded with the terminal:

sudo dpkg -i firmware-amd-graphics_20161130-3_all.deb
But the display is still only 800x600.
I also tried the other package
sudo dpkg -i firmware-amd-graphics_20161130-3~bpo8+1_all.deb,
which was in Xinutop before, I think.

Back on board, I will try to update the driver via Internet.

Fiete,

Not all non-free wifi drivers are installed in Xinutop.
Connect your PC by wired or USB wifi compatible
Verify that you have the non-free repositories in your sources.list

# apt-get update
# apt-get install firmware-brcm80211.

If persistent troubles make
# apt-cache search broadcom

to see all drivers broadcom alvailable

Enjoy ??

Bonjour Laurent,

Re: Xinutop-nav, dedicated marine OS for x86

From Skipperearly

just downloaded latest Xinutop from website and prepared bootable usb drive.
Booting on my NB ok but somehow I cannot get the wireless network going.
kb layout is also not adjustable to match physical layout.

Help file is rather cryptic to me on this subject - any advise how to proceed now.

Hello

There is 2 ways for locales:
- At boot, choice "Others languages"
- After boot in /parameters/parameters_management/keyboard/disposition... add

Wifi:
