zoom map open cpn mbtile format

hello i have made map with sasplanet format MBTILE. Marine cmap zoom 14 to 18 and google map satellite zoom 18 to 20. open cpn load cmap very good but when i want to zoom i don't see the satellite map

i must close cmap to see the satellite map. ihave made the same opereration with KAP file and i don't have this problem only with mbtile files.

The best solution would be to make two groups of Cmap and Google satellite maps and switch between them if necessary

thank you for answer, i use opencpn with android tablette and it was not easy to switch and enable or desable map chart. I prefere zoom a lot to see satellite map. I am on region the tidal was very hard 12 meter maximum. My sail boat has a retractable keel and i like to see satellite map when the tide is low. with files KAP i can this no problem ZOOM a lot and the sat map appear and dezoom marine map .it was only with mbtiles files that zoom don't work

With touch F9 i can see satellite map if i touch F9 i see marine map. F9 toogle between marine map and satellite map

This is the fight I lost with the developers years ago. They, for a reason that is beyond understanding, do not trust mbtiles but think that Kap are OK. They fail to understand you can make both of them using satellite imagery sources so why one would be considered more accurate than the other I can't take aboard. It is what it is.


And on a technical note the Kap files are limited to 256 colors while mbtiles have no such limit and in many cases of the thousands of mbtiles charts I have made show reefs and shallows that can't be seen with Kap.

pity that the zoom with mbtile maps do not work as with KAP format maps it was very practical

suggest you setup CHART GROUPS

You can switch between chart groups using number keys 0 = all charts, 1..9 the first nine chart groups

Right click on the screen to select the chart group you want.

Mixing up PC OpenCPN with Android OpenCPN... there are no "number"keys nor a "right click".


On Android, a long press brings up dialog with chart group in it.


(Yes, an on-screen chart group icon would be helpful in Android OpenCPN)

with PC windows opencpn i have made 2 screen

one for group mbtiles marine chart and

one with satellite map

It was good for me to see the 2 differents chart

But on opencp version android it was not possible to have 2 screen


The other problem to create group with opencpn android the way of directory file is very long and i canot see the end of way directory.
opencpn android was on small tablette



Too bad zooming in a lot doesn't work the same way as maps in KAP format it was more simply
