Adding DC branch panel

While planning the installation of a new DC branch panel, I realized I was going to have issue with the negative bus in the Nav station. The existing negation bus using a 12 AWG wire is inadequate. The positive bus is using a proper sized wire. The existing negative bus has few wires attached to it. Where are the remaining neg wires attache
d? Is there another neg bus somewhere which I cannot find? I do not desire to drag a new large neg bus wire through the boat to a 80AH breaker panel. However, I fear it may be my only solution. What alternatives do I have?

Re: Adding DC branch panel

I would be surprised if the negative bus follows the positive distribution panels, that's not necessary. My boat has a negative bus with large cables run from the house bank to 4 strategic places on the boat within easy reach of most appliances.

Re: Adding DC branch panel

Do you have a wiring diagram for your Lavezzi?
It should show the neg runs, I can dig mine out if you don't have one.

Hi Dragon Lady, I was reading your post and noticed that you have a Lavezzi wiring diagram. I have not had any luck in finding one. We just bought a 2008 Lavezzi 40 and are starting to upgrade it so it would be etremely helpful if we could get a copy of yours. If possible could you send one to me?

Re: Adding DC branch panel

Hi Dragon Lady, (sorry KenR, my panel is like yours and electrics on every boat ive owned are different, messy, and more complicated than designing a satelite...) ive also got a request. I’m hauling out my 2007 Levezzi next week ,if you have a manual that shows strap position for travel lift could you rely them as measurements from the bow or stern? Would appreciate it very much , my “manual” is useless, small and in French. Between the yard and myself we’ll muddle through but it would be good to know.
Thanks Pete.
