Belize 43: Belize 43 deck stress

We have just had a survey done on a 2003 Belize and one issue has come up that I would really appreciate views from those who have experience with these boats.


On the foredeck to the port and starboard of the anchor well hatch are signs of some distortion in the surface of the deck. The surveyor says these are the result of there being a stress point where the foam cored deck meets the solid deck around the hatch area. A difference in stiffness which focuses stress when the boat flexes in regular sailing conditions.

The surveyor owns an FP Bahia and has surveyed several Belize and Bahias. He tells me this is not unknown in these models, is not structural, but does need to be repaired to prevent any water ingress into the core.


Otherwise, overall the boat is in good condition for its age and has been well maintained.


I have not found any reference to this on the forum so I would love to hear from any owners past or present. Has this been an issue on any boat you are familiar with and if so was it repaired and how was it repaired?
