Factory installed space under cockpit seat? Any ideas?

We have been installing a heater on our 2007 FP Lavezzi (owner's version). We removed the wood wall panel that was in the starboard aft (owner's) cabin that forms the wall behind the shelf that is beside the bed in this cabin. Behind the wood paneling, if you lean in and look up, is a mysterious cylindrical space that must have been installed in the factory when she was being built. It's approximately 18" in diameter and looks as though it is underneath the cockpit seat that is behind the helm seat. The top was sealed, so it's not actually accessible except from behind this wood panel.

Any ideas what the purpose of this space is, or was intended to be?
