FP Inspection Hatch Fuel Tank

As we all know FP doesn't bother to install an inspection hatch in the fuel tank, so as your boat gets older at some stage it will be necessary to clean out the tank. Has anybody installed an inspection tank in an Orana or any other FP? Does anybody know if the tanks have baffles fitted?

Re: FP Inspection Hatch Fuel Tank

My Helia has an inspection hatch fitted. If in survey (in Aust) it is an 8yr survey requirement that a fuel tank internal inspection takes place. Few months ago the mechanic removed the hatch off to fix fuel outlets for the Genset. Baffles are in the tank and I would be surprised if you did not have baffles in yours. The boat I work on just had to have holes cut in the tanks for survey inspection. Maybe you will have to do the same. That was a barge tug though!

Re: FP Inspection Hatch Fuel Tank

Bahia with 400 litre tank.

So much bio-buildup in tank it was blocking fuel lines before it got to Racor filters...

Cut an inspection port --- 4 baffles.
