Re: Heads

Interesting, the non return valve was not standard on the early Mahes, it was just a standard length of 48mm hose.

If you want to spend the money a Vacuflush is a great option and does away with all joker/non return valves. Easy to fit, fresh water flush (no stale seawater odor, no calcification) and your holding tank lasts longer as the flush volume is less. Not cheap though.

Some people don't like them but my experience with them was great.

Re: Heads

The Vacuflush is local to us in Seattle. Were I to go that route, I would choose the Lavac. Butt simple and cheaper. Had one for 8 years and it was nine years old when I bought the boat. I did no maintenance and when the Henderson pump broke, I replaced it with a Whale with little angst.
For now, I'll fix the second head the same as the first. New pump complete and replace the waste hose.
I had a chance to direct compare a Jabsco and the TMC and find the latter more robustly built. I like the joker valve over the flapper and wonder if the Jabsco joker and exit will mate to the TMC. It would be a worthwhile change.
Oh, the Jabsco seemed no quieter than the TMC but the TMC is quieter with the new waste hose (or perhaps all the blood that had rushed to my head dulled my hearing).
Cheers

Re: Heads

Hello Mahes,

I have a new to me Mahe 36 that I am preparing to splash in the coming weeks. In the meantime, I am trying to familiarize myself with the systems as much as possible. I am familiar with the location of the toilet discharge valve, but am curious as to where the toilet seawater inlet valve is located. Can anyone provide a picture or at least a description of the location?

Appreciate it!

The toilet seawater inlet valve is located under the floor board in the hallway leading to the toilet.
