Lipari spin halyard block?

Hey guys, trying to spare myself from a trip up the mast at least for now….so how is the block attached to the mast? Is there an attachment point and if so what is the recommended block?

Re: Lipari spin halyard block?

Bob.. I have a Lipari 2014. Here is a picture of the sheaves on the forward part of the top of the mast. There is no block necessary. The halyard runs inside the mast over the sheave and down the outside in order to attach to the head of the spinnaker or other head sail. As you can see on the picture, there are two sheaves. I plan on putting a second halyard over the second sheave as a backup. On the existing halyard already in place, my halyard exits on the starboard side of the mast about 10 feet up from the base of the mast through an exit box then down to a block at the base of the mast so I can run the halyard to the winches at the helm station. The photo came out sideways but you can figure it out.

Re: Lipari spin halyard block?

Wonderful answer, Seapatience. Bob may be wanting to remove it for some reason. Could you tell him how the axle is retained? If not, let me recommend taking two adjustable wrenches (bolt and nut of unknown sizes) a visegrips (pull bolt), pliers (cotter key) and two or three cotter keys (easy to drop) when he makes his initial ascent. That should protect him from having to make a round trip for tools after he finds out how the axle is attached.

Re: Lipari spin halyard block?

Thanks guys but actually on some cats the halyard runs down the fwd side of the mast to a block just above the head stay attachment, I can see something there from the deck, so it’s a fractional hoist and not a masthead…thanks for trying

Re: Lipari spin halyard block?

On my Mahe there is a fitting (Zspar part 1576 or similar) about 200mm above forestay onto which block is attached.
My code 0 started to bend this so I changed to part 3340 which is much better.
All part numbers on https://www.zsparsuk.com/online-store.
