Re: Proud new owner

Le Doume, the boat is in Auckland. It is our floating home when we are in NZ as we sold our land home to buy it. Our Oz home is a high rise apartment in Paradise Waters.

Wayne, I spotted your Belize on the net. She looks an absolute gem . We looked at Belize's also but luck went the way of the Bahia. We would have been happy with either.

Drinks sound great but I think you guys will have to start without us. I have just come out of hospital in NZ and am not allowed to fly for at least four weeks . Might have to join Oliver66 on the "Virtual".

Enjoy!!

Hi guys there seems to be a lot of virtual drinking going on around here...must be some thirsty sailor types.
That's a good setup with the boat in NZ and unit here but it's going to get really noisy outside your apartment in a couple of weeks brmmm brmmm gear change brmmm brmmm and so on lol.
Yes Kiki 1 sure looks good, wish I was on her now! It was either a Bahia or Belize for me too and this one came along so it's a Belize.
Hope your recovery goes well and you can head out for a sail or two.
I think I will join you all in a drink
Regards
Wayne

Hi Wayne

Just been reading all the comments about your purchase of a Belize 43. Congratulations.

In 2011 we also purchased a 2002 Belize 43 owners version in Tahiti and have since sailed her home to Brisbane. A great boat and enjoyable for passage sailing or just going out on the weekends. (some of us are still chained to an office desk during the week).

Enjoy the cruising life.

Re: Proud new owner

Hi Pete
Congratulations that is great news that you have a Belize Maestro back here in Oz.
My boat is still in the Med waiting for me to finally get on board around late June and I can't wait:-)
I would love to catch up with you and maybe look over Alize 111 if you have some time as I am on the Gold Coast and not far away.
Would also love to hear how she sailed on your return trip home.
Have just sent you a PM

Kind regards

Wayne

Re: Proud new owner

Hi Wayne
The adventure from Tahiti to Australia had its moments from days of no wind to three days of 30-35 peaking at 42kts. By the third day of these conditions the seas were rough and tested our Belize as you could imagine. My wife who has only sailed in our local bay and never been to sea before said that she felt safe at all times throughout our rough passage and that gives you an idea of how good this boat is. I must say it was a great feeling to finally get into the protection on the islands of Noumea after the nine day leg from Tonga.

Hi Peter
That is a great recommendation for the design of the Belize on a blue water passage. Should be reassuring to any who are contemplating an open water passage, including myself.

FWIW, The delivery captains bringing the Belize across the Atlantic stopped carrying drogues, they stated the bows had enough buoyancy drogues were just extra baggage they had to ship back home.

I carry one, but it's never been deployed. I've seen a wave eat the genoa furler, but the bows popped right back up. I've been in 55kt winds with 12' seas and the boat was solid as a rock.
