Shower Sump Pump Won't Stop Running

I have a Saba 50 renting my dock and a shower sump pump is running 24 hours a day. The pump is located in the bilge of the port aft crew stateroom which is only accessible from the deck hatch. I cannot find a breaker for it nor can I find anyway to activate it within the head in the cabin. I turned off all the DC breakers on the main panel and it's still running. Any thoughts?

Re: Shower Sump Pump Won't Stop Running

I put separate switches for both my bilge Sump pumps on my Dash, They are not automatic,
The shower pump is also on a separate switch, That I only turn on when the shower is being used,

Hope this helps.

Did you contact the owner to inform them of the problem or have them tell you where the switch is located?
I would cut the pump power wire in the pic. if you can't get a hold of them.

Re: Shower Sump Pump Won't Stop Running

Owner is out of town and knows nothing about the boat. I let him know he has this problem. I was just trying to find out if there is a second breaker panel that I'm missing or an on/off switch in the head for the sump.

If you've thoroughly checked all the breakers/switches and can't turn it off, would cut the red wire near the butt splice in attempt to save the pump. It can easily be redone.

Re: Shower Sump Pump Won't Stop Running

They probably wired it wired directly to the battery like a bilge pump.

Should have a fuse , possibly even in the negative (black) wire somewhere.

Most shower sumps have a rocker switch located in or near the shower. I’m guessing someone might have. Inadvertently leaned against it while in the head and activated the pump.

Push comes to shove, cut the ground wire. The owner can always splice it back together (better than ruining the pump).

Look in the cubbies or cabinets for the activating switch. As was said above, they usually have their own activation switch, but that should also be connected to the breaker. Sounds like also has been said above, it's directly wired to the battery.

Unscrew the top cover and clean the surface of the switch. As shower goo collects on the switch it thinks it ls wet and doesn’t turn off. Two minute fix.

My boat has an identical gray water tank/pump. If cleaning the vertical blade-like switch doesn't work (mine failed to turn on, but did have a panel switch), I replaced it with a simple Rule float switch inside, with a take-apart hot wire to pump that could be directly connected to the switched line if it the Rule failed.

Ok, just as Sailshabby said, I cut the power line just before the butt connector. Problem solved. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Cut the brown wire at the spice and seal up the wire with tape or I prefer heat shrink to prevent from touching anything.
