These cars have no easy way to pull the pin to slide to another slot, and if I use needle nose pliers and move them, ten minutes of the wiggling of sailing allows them to roll back to the end of the track anyway.

Has anyone a good idea or reasonable alternative?

Yours appear to be missing a "knob" for pulling up the pin.

Mine appear to be riveted on. Ignore the rope in the pics, it's temporary for something else.

Funny that it is sheared or cut off, and the spring still works.

I figured something like that! I wonder if anyone can provide the manufacturer, so I can get the parts to rebuild it?

Failing that, I'll take it apart next year, and take the pieces to get something machined for it.
