WHAT DOCs NEEDED TO IMPORT TO U.S.?

I'm in a pending sale purchase for a 2012 Lipari from U.K. owners.

I'd like to register it in the U.S. and need to know what documents I must have at close of sale from the seller to do this.

Can someone help with US import process?

(The sellers don't have a copy of the certificate of build but everything else. This Lipari could fall under the EPA Volvo Penta engine recall list but not sure if this recall poses an import barrier.)

Thank you!!

Re: WHAT DOCs NEEDED TO IMPORT TO U.S.?

I have recently purchased a vessel from UK origin. Presently I do not intend to bring it to the U.S., so I haven't gone through the import process. But in order to register with USCG we utilized a marine documentation service and we had obtained from the prior owners a copy of the Certificate of British Registry, and a Closed Transcript of Registry of a British Ship. Additionally we provided the Bill of Sale, and filled out a USCG Application for Certificate of Documentation CG-1258, and Application for Simplified Measurements CG-5397.

I'd imagine paying import duties would be fairly straight forward through US Customs.

Hope that helps a little.

I used the broker's recommendations for a company to register the boat in the U.S. All Yacht Registries, boat registration, vessel register USA Jan Painter I believe is the principal's name. Another company in Florida is Howard S. Reeder, Inc
