1968 Dickerson 35 ($2000)

Excerpted from the Good Old Boat magazine News Letter:

"This note is just in and may change someone's life in 2009
We heard from reader Stan Pease, who says he has
to find a new home for his fixer-upper sailboat, a 35-foot Dickerson
built in 1968
. He writes: "In the middle of my restoration/refit, the
sale of the marina where she is stored forces me to sell, donate to a
school, or destroy her by the end of April 2009! Thousands invested
with the initial transportation to Duluth, Minnesota, and work on the
boat herself. Will take $2,000; the buyer will have to pick her up at
the marina."

Heres the email response I got

Pat,

There are a few bottom seams that need filling, it has been sealed.
Needs to be painted or glassed and she will float. Put interior
together as desired set up the rig with new spreaders and she is ready
for a suite of sails and go.

I have no idea of your abilities and budget but I would say 400 to 600
man hours and you have a boat ready to go "anywhere"

Thanks for your interest, your #6 on the list.

Best wishes
Stan

Sad....Another dream of sailing wasted trying to rebuild a project boat..The main reason I'm critical of people trying it that never have before...Iv rebuilt two boats I hope I have learned my lesson for good.

Yep! I have seen so many abandoned projects over the years. If one doesn't take the boat out a couple-three times a year, they tend to loose interest fast.

Why can't he just move the boat to another location? Giving up, I guess!

I'm on my third (and last) rebuild. It's all sailing from here on out!

My first thought too.

Also it sorta doesn't sound like the middle of a project. Sounds like the beginning!

Everything's done except there is no interior, it doesn't float (yet), needs a mast, speraders, rigging and some sails. What about engine and instruments?

Almost sail away?
