1972 Pearson 26

We have for sale or trade a real classic. She is a 1972 Pearson 26 foot sailboat. She has good sails , has been upgraded to a Yamaha 9.9 four stroke with remote controls. The list of equipment is long, but includes Yamaha 9.9 long shaft electric start w/ charging system, 26 gallon fresh water system (needs a new pump), depth finder, 300 watt voltage inverter, shore power system, automatic battery charger on shore power, Genoas 120 150 and spinnaker in addition to main sail, pottie, etc. She will sleep five.

The hull as far as I know , is as solid as the day she was launched. Topside has been painted, needs touchup only. We have the bottom paint, and it will be provided to her new owner. There are only minor gelcoat scratches. There is one spot on starboard midship, where it appears to have been hitting a piling in a storm. There is a flange where the hull and deck meet, that the rub rail attaches to. About a foot and a half of the lip is missing, so the rub rail has a small sag. There has never been any sign of loss of integrity or leaking.

There is some play in the rudder. I understand this is a common thing on Pearson's. The bushings in the rudder shaft wear out. It is recommended, that when she is out for bottom paint, these bushings are replaced. From what I understand, they are cheap , and easily replaced.

All standing rigging seems fine and the sails are in very good condition, according to a friend , who repairs sails.

The outboard was updated from the old white Evinrude to the dark gray Yamaha fourstroke. The motor was used as a kicker on a Parker , so it has very low hours. I bought it from a Yamaha dealer. They had just completely serviced it. The oil is still clean, a year later.

There are several yards close by , who do haulout and paint. Unfortunately , none around here will let you do your own work.

One cushion in the cabin was recovered with terrycloth. The others seem to be original, and in good shape. A previous owner, who had her for years, still lives on Isles of Capri. They tell me he was a fanatic about maintaining her. He had the cabinetry stripped and refinished, and changed, bulkhead mounted shelves with fiddles, to cabinets with doors. It was done so well, most people think it was an option when new.

We have no problem jumping on her and throwing up all her sails, heel her over and lets have some fun.

Our move inland forces sale or TRADE. Interested in a small RV, center console or walk around boat of similar value. Boat is ready to sail. Cruise to the Keys or Bahamas without spending a fortune.

Forgot to mention she comes with a 6' wooden dinghy.....
