43' ALUMINUM C&C custom sloop 1968. $42,000 Florida

Selling my 1968 Cuthbertson designed custom C&C 43 foot ALUMINUM round bottom deep keel sloop. Originally built for the Commodore of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, PSYCHE II was raced extensively early in her career and has a racing trophy named in her honor at the RCYC, before moving on to extended cruising in the Caribbean for a number of years. More recently she has been in Florida and used for cruising, now just completed an extensive refit and is ready to go.

The good-

She is beautiful, kind of a transitional design from the early IOR days when there was still some CCA influence and before IOR went extreme.

Boat is in the water and has been underway in the last few weeks, ready to go sailing today, not a usual craigslist derelict. Took it for a hundred mile sail last year without problems. Hull is in good shape, minimal corrosion, has isolation transformer and no zinc use to speak of. Topsides and bottom just repainted in Feb 2014. Nonskid just redone. Rig is in great shape, Norseman fittings, mast steps, adjustable backstay, running backs, Furlex furler and spinnaker pole on mast. Primary winches are self tailing, traveler in cockpit. Sails are very heavy duty, 11 oz. I believe, main is full batten, sail shape is good, not blown out. Main recently at sailmaker's, patched a couple of mouse holes, nothing else needed to be done. Bimini and dodger (needs windows replaced). Just completely rebuilt the Perkins 4-108 diesel, including new cylinders/pistons/rings/bearings, everything gone thru, transmission and V-drive redone with new seals/gaskets (did not need anything else). Has MaxProp feathering propeller. Electrical in good condition, new start battery and new house bank of four 6V golf cart batteries. Has MarineAir 40 amp wind generator and Heart Interface charger/inverter. Electronics include fixed GPS at chart table, fixed VHF, Raymarine ST60 Tridata with speed/log/depth, ST60 wind (just fixed the transducer but it needs direction calibrated) and autopilot. 2 electric bilge pumps and one manual. Has propane stove with oven, 12V refrigerator, deep double sink, microwave, television, pressure water and hot water heater. Head with holding tank and macerator/overboard discharge. Manual anchor windless, Bruce anchor on roller, stern roller as well.

Classic interior just repainted, cushions are in decent shape, nice green color. Has V berth fwd, head with shower to port and hanging lockers to stbd, L shaped settee in salon to port and slide out bunk to stbd, aft is nav station and quarter berth to starboard with seamanlike U shaped galley on port. Cockpit lockers and lazarrette are cavernous. Ports and forward hatch just regasketed.

The bad- Draft is six feet, makes her unsuitable for me. I can only get her in and out of the canal to my slip at high tide. Needs some minor on deck woodworking.

$42,000 USD, located Ft Myers FL on Gulf Coast.

Tons more pictures on craigslist which I am not allowed to link to.

sails great like most every C&C
She is the second to this design built in aluminum, there were a few others to other designs.

From the pics afar, the hull looks like GRP!

How in the hang did they get the contours (Radii) so seemingly perfect?

Poster boat for an alloy build?

Love to see that boat.

I have the next best thing. A C&C 27 in GRP.

nice, I guess she is available... couple of questions: you say minimal corrosion...what degree and where? also i cant tell from photos, is the mast deck or keel stepped?

thanks

keel stepped mast

Some pitting in the hull plating in the bilge area forward of the mast. Area is about two square feet, I would guess that some sand or mud off the anchor gathered there at some point.

is that the only affected area? no corrosion on the outside?

how about the keel? im thinking its a fixed keel welded on and it is integral to the hull or is it a regular fin bolted to a welded keel stub?

some minor surface oxidation/corrosion on interior bilges, but no exterior or bottom corrosion.

Integral keel, the lead ballast is inside the hull shell, there is a plate welded over it and no fissure or external crack at the exterior hull/ballast joint as might be expected with a bolt on ballast keel.

I will check freeboard, but the pictures tell general proportions best.

also, is there any gear or hardware that is bolted to the deck or hull with ss bots instead of being welded? like cleats, stanchions, padeyes, chainplates if any, block bases, winches...etc
