Best Dinghy Outboard Ever! Tohatsu 18hp 2 stroke $1200

You don't have to take my word for it, search MarkJs posts. This 84 pound 2 stroke will blow a Yamaha 15 out of the water. I had a previous one on a 9' AB and was never really able to run if at full throttle as was too scary fast.

I believe mark runs his on a 9 footed but probably best on a 10 of 11' rib.

The motor itself has always been a dinghy motor and is a 1998 stored since 2006. Recent service and runs perfect.

148 even psi compression (that's great)

Has minor paint bubbling on tiller handle as is typical from storage on the stern rail.

Located in St Augustine, but will ship.

$1200

Have you had the lower unit off lately, ie: for impeller replacement?

I have a 15 that is the same block, same weight. 17 years old now. Tough engines except I can't get the lower unit off due to neglect.

Edit: And I really wish folks would properly rotate images that they post!

Yes, motor has always been well maintained. If you want me to work on yours I'd be happy to do so.

FYI, the 15 is a smaller displacement engine. Smaller pistons, might be same stroke. Different carb.

Your right mate, they are a bloody good outboard. Had one on a 10' inflatable years ago. If it was in Australia, i'd buy it in a heartbeat for my IRB.
I have a Mercury copy, a Super 15 which I retuned to 18 on my 10' Polyboat.
Enjoy,
Tex.
