Re: BEST SAILING ARRANGEMENT IN THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS

From someone living aboard and familiar with costs in the BVI, that sounds like a very nice deal for someone wanting to spend only a month per year on the boat. Four weeks for the little more than the price of a one week charter (though with an older boat), and some good months up for offer.

I am sure an interested party would want to be sure of triple net costs and who was responsible for the inevitable costs of engine and other major repairs and sail replacement, but overall, this seems like a lot of boat for not too much commitment.

A nice "starter cruiser" package. Hope it works out for you.

Re: BEST SAILING ARRANGEMENT IN THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS

GravityCoaches, Thank you for your observation! From someone who lived and sailed Puerto Rican waters for 12 years, then returned to the big "GRINGO" island, I had always wanted to get back down there to sail. This arrangement with REGGAE was formed in1995 and I bought my first share in 1997, so I have been with this group for 18 years. It hasn't all been "milk and honey", but we have worked our way through the rough spots, learning as we went! We have been very fortunate to have a great group of people and that doesn't happen by accident. We are not interested in people who want a charter on the cheap, but in boat owners, who will care for her the way we do. You know the old saying "Nobody washes a rental car!"
We have a keen eye and a sharp pencil for costs. We didn't learn this over night! Example: Our $1500 Garmin installation (with transducer) was purchased off of E-Bay for $650 and installed by ourselves. We clean and prepare (fuel / water / propane / laundry) our own boat for the next owner by arriving at the mooring a day early. It all depends on what you want and are willing to pay for. We are just a group of a ordinary folks, many boat owners up here, who love to sail down there and don't need all of the fancy (read expensive) extras, just a good, sound, reasonably well equipped boat. I would point out that 3 of the 4 shares available are Treasury shares freed up by a change of operating procedure, only 1 is an owner selling and he does so because of a non-sailing wife. George

Re: Best Sailing Arrangement In The British Virgin Islands

Please be advised that the month of January has been sold and is no longer available. Additionally, due to a change in our operating procedure, we are now permitting parties to 50% / 50% share an undivided month, working out the details between themselves. Contact me if there is any interest in other months on this basis and I will contact the current owner to ascertain interest. Thanks, George - gtspettigue at gmail dot com or 3zero7-2five6-66five0 Cell
