Canadian Sailcraft CS 36T

Journalist Bill Sandifer wrote about this boat; "The Canadian Sailcraft 36 is one of the best-built boats I have yet sailed. That it is underappreciated is evidenced by the fact that even in its home waters of Long Island Sound, New York, where there are literally thousands of boats, there are only two Canadian Sailcraft 36s. Where you can find them, these boats are very well built, sail well, are fairly priced on the market, and are a sheer joy". Need I say more.

This one is in The Netherlands. For the exact location you can contact the owner through the advert on DIY Yacht Broker.

We have another one in Canada as well if you are looking on that side of the Atlantic. You can check her out on the link below.

Re: Canadian Sailcraft CS 36T

As of yesterday I've surveyed 2,865 boats. They are not perfect, the propane and electrical systems will need some upgrades but in my opinion the CS36T is the best built production boat on the water.

Re: Canadian Sailcraft CS 36T

Owned a CS 36T for six years, there most certainly is a loyal following for these boats, Some of the fiberglass lay up was not a good as the modern boats, the result was that many needed the bottom redone. The wiring is all old copper ( non tinned ) the DC panel was a poor install, I upgraded that system and replaced all of the wiring for the AC side.

The hot water tank is always worth checking, it is a bear to replace.

I will not debate the merits of the boat however if comparing to other boats designed in the same time frame it is one of the better.

I currently own a Beneteau and I do think in many ways it is a better designed boat, better sailing boat and often gets a bad rap.
Just remember the CS 36 designed by Ray Wall is now over 35 years in age.

They are getting to be old boats, the last one was built over 25 years ago
