Cruiser - 32 to 38 feet

Private sales only, please.

I joined back in 2008/2009 with the intent to get into sailing. Unfortunately, an incident changed that. But I feel good enough now to consider a boat and I should have considered this sooner.

As the subject states, I am looking for a cruiser that is solid and one I can spend some time on. Preferably mid 90s and newer, but condition will be the primary factor.

Preferably one in the Great Lakes and one made in the US (due to import duties...unless you want to swallow that portion).

PM me with further info.

Thanks, but a bit too far to view and inspect at the moment. I'll have more time during the second half of the summer where if I do go that far, I will daisy chain numerous viewings/inspections.

My Canadian-built CS36 commutes between Bahamas and Nova Scotia. It's well-equipped for cruising. I've been living aboard since October 2014. If you are willing to consider a boat built in 1984, I'm sure you would find her a good value. You can reach me by email to fredguptill at Yahoo.ca

Re: Cruiser - 32 to 38 feet

Traveller,

I have a Nonsuch 30 Ultra that I have owned for 19 years. She is in excellent condition and properly maintained. I know that she is not as long as you are looking for, however anyone would agree that the Nonsuch 30 Ultra has as much room both above and below decks as most 36'+ boats and she can be single-handed just about anywhere.

I will be posting my ad ASAP on this forum. Please reply if interested and I can forward photos, description and a copy of a recent survey.

Regards,

Ken

^ Thanks, but it is not exactly what I am looking for.

I see George Hinterhöller was involved in that boat as well as many others. I wonder if my dad rubbed elbows with him since they were a few years apart in age and they sailed the same lakes in Austria. My dad raced and did very well with many 1st and top 5 placings.

Yes, Geoge Hinterhoeller was the builder of all Nonsuches. He was an excellent craftsman/builder. Unfortunately Hinterhoeller went the way of too many quality boat builders after the late 80's.

I spoke to his son just last week while trying to get some background. I was wondering if his father may have been part of the same yacht club my father was part of in the next lake that is maybe 3 miles away (they almost touch). I had no luck trying to contact his wife...no answer.

I'm sorry I never had a chance to grow up sailing or that my father never had a boat here. In fact, if I find one to my liking, this will be my first boat. I know that sounds crazy and I can just imagine some of the thoughts about that on this forum.

Re: Cruiser - 32 to 38 feet

I sent a PM regarding my 1987 37 Holby Tripp. Also a friend is trying to sell his 1963 35 Pearson Alberg that has totally been refit with a 3 year old yanmar. Be in touch and I will get more info. I'm looking for 35k for mine and I think he's asking around 25k for his.
