Cruising Capable Houseboat in Exuma

Tortue was built in 1959 in Houma, Louisiana. She's a river tug which has been thoughtfully converted into a house boat. Beautiful woodwork throughout the interior (see video link) Tortue is built of very sturdy steel construction. In 2009, she was hauled and inspected for wear. No repairs were necessary and the hull bottom was sand-blasted and recoated with epoxy and bottom paint. The original Detroit Diesel engine never misses a start. Tortue will sleep 4-6 people in berths and the settee table converts to a bed. The bathroom is spacious with electric head and bathtub. Other specifics:
Hydraulic steering
21kw NextGen generator (needs repair)
Bauer dive compressor and tanks
34 gal holding tank
galley has refrigerator, oven/stove, microwave, lots of storage space
air conditioning
Electronics include chart plotter with maps, 2 VHF radios
1000 gallons fresh water storage capacity, with water catchment set up
1200 gallons fuel capacity
Tortue was a full time live aboard and research vessel. She's cruised extensively in the Bahamas, but is very comfortable at anchor. Need to sell ASAP. Asking $60,000 in The Bahamas. Please contact for more info.

Hi Alan, Tortue is kept in a slip at Kevalli House marina at Stocking Island, George Town, Exuma. The cost of storage is $400/month. The marina manager will run engines for you and air out the boat once per week. Its a very safe hurricane hole and security is good. I will be ordering a new generator next week. The replacement back end is $2500 and I estimate it will be another $1000 to ship it, pay 10% duty, and get it installed here in the Bahamas.

Thanks for the fast reply! Is extended stay on the boat allowed at this marina? Looked up Kevalli House, and it looks like we would be able to reserve a cottage to come see the boat. We just inquired about dates available. BTW, what is the draft?

No problem. Kevalli House has non-live aboard storage only, but there are other moorings nearby available. She also has dependable ground tackle and there are lots of beautiful anchorages in Elizabeth Harbour. I can give you a call if you'd like to ask more questions. When is a good time?
