Cruising Cat for 40 000 Euro

My family and me have been cruising the Caribbean from Germany to Trinidad to the Bahamas and are going to end the trip in July 2014 in Florida or in the Bahamas.
Our boat, a 45-ft Prout Ocean Ranger is for sale. I really don't want the hassle of having a boat far away and store it for the next season to sell it then. I want a clear cut and a quick sale before we fly home. So the boat is for sale far below market price.

The Boat

a 45-ft catamaran with lots of space for a family. We are 4 people, and we only need one hull, the other one is simply plenty of space. It is 44 years old, but well kept and in perfect working condition. The hull is thick fiberglass, very strong and safe. The engine, a 40-hp-Perkins, runs just fine, it has been completely overhauled last year, same as the rigging. Sails are not new, but checked by a sailmaker and rendered fine. The boat is fully equipped with all instruments, plotter, wind-instruments, NAVTEX, radar, echolot, sumlog, ...,

2 anchors, 150ft chain

anchor windlass, 7 winches

all ropes, main sail, 2 Genuas, stormjib, staysail

all sail covers, sprayhood, sunshade

full kitchen equipment, gas stove, oven

3 large gas bottles

300 l space for diesel in jerrycans

pressure drinking water

220-V-Generator

towing generator with wind turbine add-on

dinghi with 5-HP-Yamaha and 3,8-hp- spare-outboard-engine

EPIRB, flares, live-vests, usual safety-equipment

lifebelts, lifelines

lots and lots of spare parts (for engine, steering, paint, electic water pump, toilets, ...)

autopilot (new 2013)

a 150cc motorscooter (great on the islands!)

all crusing guides and chartbooks for all Caribbbean islands and Bahamas

a cruising permit for the Bahamas valid until April 2015

basic set of tools

2 strong diesel stoves for sailing in cold areas

recent maintenance:

3 new batteries (1 starter and 2 consumer batteries)

new rub-rail

new alternator for main engine

new antifouling in May/June 2014

there was an expert's survey carried out in 2012 stating that the ship is strong and solid and "fully seaworthy under all conditions". If intersted, I can send the expertise.

So, if you are looking for a cheap and really seaworthy and strong vessel, fully equipped for your trip around the world, this is just what you are looking for!

Please send me an Email to a.rogge@gmx.net and I'll send you a couple of photographs.

It's a pity we can't keep the boat, but unfortunately we have to go back to Germany to work .

Taxes for the Eu have been paid, all certificates exist, currently registered in Germany.

Interested. Can you please post more pictures of all living spaces? As we are looking for a livaboard that would be comfortable for some years to come. Thanks!

May want to try his email address. Worked for me a month ago. It's also listed on Yachtworld with more pics.

Have you seen uns there? Who were you, did we meet?

We are in Miami now, nice cruising over the Great Bahama Bank though some thunderstorms lookes and sounded frightening.

Re: Cruising Cat for 40 000 Euro

Boat is in fact almost sold, but you only really know when you have the money in your hands.
For pictures just browse the net for "Prout Ocean Ranger", and you`ll find sites from our broker, some with some nice pics from the interior.

The ship is supposed to be handed over at the end of July in Boston or New York. Are you interested to be notified if for some reason the sale is still cancelled?

Best regards!

Chris
