Danforth Davits Model DLM102

For sale: Pair of Danforth painted aluminum davits. Heavy-duty, 43" long and 22 1/2" high. Paint is flaking; these need to be repainted or better yet, powder coated. There is no corrosion evident. Bases are 6" square and require backing plates or through-bolts to some heavy structural member. The lifting tackle is present and functional, but the lines should be replaced. One back pulley bracket is broken and requires replacement.

$150 plus shipping. Or $100 if you pick them up in Eastern Connecticut.

What dingy weight would this hold? I have a dingy weighing approx. 600 pounds.

Re: Danforth Davits Model DLM102

I'm not at all sure. I can't find much (any) information on line. I'd recommend you contact the company directly and get it straight from the horse's mouth. Offhand, though, I'd be surprised if they were rated to 600lbs...that's a LOT of weight to have swinging from a 4-foot long lever arm without additional reinforcement. But after thinking about it, the davits could be reinforced by installing an additional support strut at the middle of the arms. I thought that location was for a block and tackle, but it could also be used for a support rod. In any case, it would still leave you to wonder if the tips of the arms could support that kind of weight.
