European-Canadian boatbuilder for your project boat

My husband designed and built our own sailboat in the backyard. We have just completed her maiden voyage from Toronto to Palm Beach, FL and back, over a nine months period. He has also worked for PDQ Yachts, now defunct. There are no boatbuilders left up here to work for and it is too cold for the outdoor private jobs. If anyone needs a good boatbuilder for their project boat somewhere warm for the winter, please contact us.

I would love to see a few more pics, I am an hour and a bit west of you, I have a large covered area and want to build.. more fit a hull here. Not sure if Hull building is something he does? Would love to know more about the building process, how much space you had, where you got the materials etc...

More Pictures of Monica

Here she is, up on hard for the winter. My husband designed and built the whole boat, including hand-laying the solid fibreglass hull (which is 3/4 " above the waterline and gets as thick as 1 1/2" down towards the keel). We did everything ourselves, the hull, deck, pilot house windows, inside woodwork, electrical installation, plumbing, electronics, rebuilding and marinizing a VW Jetta Diesel engine, you name it. The hull and deck were built in the backyard, in a tent-like structure. Of course we could not do any fibreglass work in wintertime, so we needed two summers to finish as we worked evenings and weekends only. Then we had her moved to the Whitby Marina, where we did the rest of the work, also on weekends. The design was done in 1998, the hull was built in 1999 and 2000, she was moved to the marina in the spring of 2001 and was commissioned in 2004. Went South in 2007. If you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Yeh...she looks real nice....
I'm not normally a big fan of radar arches on most sail boats.........some exceptions and yours is a good one...looks cool!
Sounds like a good build time as well...did you build a mold/s.
What are her specs.
How about some interior pics, cockpit.....?
Congratulations for getting in the water.

More! More! I have been reading, researching, planning - looking at plans - built a structure to build in.. thanks for the inspiration. You should be very proud! I would also love to know about the mold and see some interior pics. As for a job - how about some lessons???

James,

I too was going to compliment the arch. I am not a fan of them, but this will surely keep the dink from danger in almost anything.....lololololol

We have hundreds of pics including construction phases and interior, but they are all on paper. As for inspiration, here are a few pics from the trip South: George Washington Bridge, Lock 11, Cleaning Fish in St Augustine, FL, On the Bow in the Gulf Stream off Lake Worth Inlet, Rafted in Vero Beach, FL and Moored in New York City. If you want to meet and discuss building your boat, please give me your contact info.

Hi sailingmonica. The boat looks like it was built like a Tank. I like the pictures, especially the one with the cute looking girl and the bloody fish .

Good luck to you and your husband.
