Re: European to USA Propan tank adaptor

Does Trident Euro make an adaptor that allows European metric fuel tanks to be used on a US regulator? Or an adaptor that allows US fuel tanks to be refilled from a European gas supplier?

Re: European to USA Propan tank adaptor

I assume this implies you are swapping rather than re-filling? Do I need anything special to re-fill my US tanks?

Re: European to USA Propan tank adaptor

Best thing is to read "Whoosh's" page on the European process of refilling your North American propane tanks, etc. See:
LPG in Europe

This particular adaptor I have has two parts - the standard North American POL part that screws into your North American propane tank's valve; and, a union piece that has European threads on the end for screwing in a European CampGaz pigtail. As shown by "Whoosh" you would buy a European pigtail that has a fitting to connect to a European tank and a hose that you would screw into the female side of the Trident 1190-1625 that I am selling. Supposedly there are different kinds of Euro CampGaz tank fittings so using this adaptor allows you to attach the local Euro pigtail.

If you wished to directly connect a European CampGaz tank to your own North American propane system/regulator then a Trident #1195-1615 (shown below) would work. Problem is finding one. Supposedly Defender has them - see: Trident Marine LPG Propane Gas "Camping Gaz" Adapter

With both of them you could adapt your system to go either way. I only have the one that allows you to take your North American tank to a refill station to get it refilled or to manually with the addition of a pigtail purchased in Europe, refill you tank yourself from a "rental" CampGaz tank.

The refilling of tanks on an add-hoc basis is now basically illegal in the EU. But you will still find some places that do it. Propane , of you can find it, can still be refilled. Domestic butane cannot be legally refilled.

Your best bet is to switch to Camping Gaz cylinders

Re: European to USA Propan tank adaptor

That's what I also heard.

So the process I found was to "rent" a CampGaz tank and then take it back to your boat and transfer the contents into your own NA tank using this adaptor and a pigtail. Then return the empty CampGaz tank to where you go it. That is assuming you will be moving on before you can use up what is in the CampGaz tank.
