I was planning on using just the CM93 charts and Raymarine chartplotter with Navionics, but after the recent thread with the cat hitting a reef, I think a set of Explorer charts are a great idea.

We are in St Augustine FL as of right now.

Thanks,

We did the trip in 2004, 1000 miles used Explorer Charts, didn't touch bottom for the entire trip. The book is available 2002 but probably most is current enough and easy to update changes you find or from a newer version.
brooksd2atyahoo.com if interested pm.

I broke down and bought a chart package on eBay with the the NV-charts of Puerto Rico to Grenada that included the Far Bahamas Explorer chart. It looks like the coverage of the Far Bahamas overlaps a lot of what is in the Exumas Explorer charts, but would still like to pickup a copy of that book. If you have that, I'm interested in it.

David,

I appreciate it, but we wont be going anywhere in the "near bahamas" Just the Exumas and further south. We are cutting straight across.

Thanks,

Matt

Re: Explorer Charts for the Bahamas

I have Near Bahamas 4th ed., Far Bahamas 3rd ed. & Exumas and Ragged Islands 4th ed.
No bends or rips at the bindings. Slight scuffing on cover of Exumas but otherwise all in excellent condition.
$30 each + shipping.
Send email address & I can forward a picture.

We had the most recent Explorer Charts and Navionics Elctronic Charts on our iPAD when cruising Bahamas last year. As a hydrographer, I can say that Navionics has serious issues with their data. Explorer charts seemed very reliable. In any case, we would always compare the two data sets in critical areas and err on the side of caution.
