For Sale: Fleming Major Windvane

For sale is a Fleming Major Windvane that has been stored in my shed since returning from Brazil in 1987. It is still a beautiful piece of equipment but I'm too old to consider using it again. The vane is complete with wheel steering drum and all original mounting hardware including backing plates. Also included is a Major Spares Kit that comes with a variety of bushings, pins and machine screws. There are two detachable wood vanes, one of which shows considerable use and has a small split near the base. But this does not deter from its performance. The ID plate indicates the vane is "Major 185". Operating and maintenance manuals are provided.

My experience with vanes includes passages with Aries, Sailomat and Monitor in addition to the Fleming. In any situation, light air to storm conditions, the Fleming provided superior performance with none of the maintenance issues encountered with the others.

My asking price is $2,500.00 plus freight. Freight will be calculated on the actual cost charged by UPS or other shipper of your choice. Or, the vane may be picked up in Daytona Beach, Florida.

I was wondering if I can get a copy of the manual, I have a Fleming Major that came with my westsail 32 but no manual. Its not mounted on the vessel so I really dont have any idea how to rig it or trim it. Any help would be nice.
