This whisker pole is designed to be used with asymmetrical sails and allows for deeper sailing angles and cuts down on the need for constant gybing while sailing ddw. I've also seen it used effectively to pole a genoa way out while ddw because it extends the clew further than a standard spinnaker or whisker pole.
