Seldom used, never in heavy weather, storm anchor for our Shannon 28 with soft mud pads.

Fortress anchor

YES, IT'S STILL AVAILABLE. We're back in Vermont and I can't get the damn thing to bite.

Can't figure out why? Even with the mud pads it's not holding.

It worked great down south.

You got at least a short length of heavy chain on it and are using at least a 3:1 scope? I find it works best in mud and sand.

Fortress anchor

David,

The Fortress works great. On all my anchors I never use less than 60ft of heavy chain and try for 5:1 scope.

My statement was tongue in cheek. I was chuckling to myself because I'm back on the hard, Watercolor is also on the hard about 20 miles from the Canadian border under at least a foot of snow and 0 degrees. The little bay where the boat is has about 6" of ice in it. And I'm selling a boat anchor.

we've had 4.5 years cruising in the south this time, however, our first two grandchildren have arrived, one on either coast. My wife is a great sailor, but she really wants to be a part of these new arrivals lives. So here we are sailing in several feet of snow and 6" of ice.

Say, David: The Fortress Anchor has not arrived. Could you check and see what the problem is?
Thanks,

Nick L.
