Garmin GPSMAP 180 Chart for Nova Scotia

If you're reading this, you probably know that Garmin no longer supports the 180. I've bought one with a chart for Los Angeles area. I'm moving to Nova Scotia. Any ideas on how to get Nova Scotia chart onto my 180?? I think the number is 902. Swap? Buy Chip? Options? Appreciate any help. <bourquen@yahoo.com>

Welcome to the Maritimes! Check with the Binnacle in Halifax when you arrive. They can probably gear you up or you can check the ads on Kijiji.ca for a used chip.

I have a Garmin gpsmap 215.

I have a Nova Scotia chip I will likely never use. Do you know if this chip for the 215 will work in yours?

If so, it's yours for a small reasonable offer plus shipping.

If anyone has one, I could use a chip for the panhandle area of Florida down to Tampa Bay.

I looked at the manuals for a 180 and 215. My chip won't work.

Yours is a micro g-chart, mine a g-chart chip. I thought since they were both older monochrome plotters the chips might be the same.

I have charts for Tampa to Key West, but need Tampa to Mobile to cover my plans for the next couple of years.

For four winds...

Just curious. Is there a way to convert (copy?) your g chart to a micro g chart? I'm not a computer kinda a guy, but it seems to me.... (something dumb shoud go here.....) Kind of like my computer takes an SD chip, and I have an adapter that takes other kinds (I've never used it.) The only thing is that I don't know what a "g" or "micro g" is called in layman's terms (If there is another term.

BTW - I'm on a walkabout in the states. Have been in CA, now in TX, headed for FL and then KS after which I'll be in KY and then ME. So if you don't hear from me, it's not that I"m not interested in your chip.

Re: Garmin GPSMAP 180 Chart for Nova Scotia

Hi Four Winds

Can you tell me what a "reasonable offer" might be for your Nova Scotia g chart? I have really struck out on finding a micro g chart of Nova Scotia for my GPSMAP 180. There just MIGHT be a way to convert your chart to my chip. I really don't know, but I'm kinda grasping at straws here before I use my unit for a doorstop... Curses to Garmin for making this so hard!!
