$100 more than last time? You really going to sell it this time? Anchor wasn't bent last time was it?

Re: ground tackle for a 40-50+ footer

Guess with all the new generation anchors out there the demand for even a genuine CQR just isn't what it used to be. I have a 45 lb CQR of my own collecting dust in the back yard.

Re: ground tackle for a 40-50+ footer

There was a trimaran cruising with us in French Polynesia. Randomly, the anchor simply would refuse to bite into the bottom and hold. After about the umpteenth time saving him from going aground, looked carefully at his CQR. It looked exactly like yours with maybe a little more bend in the shaft. If the anchor ended up one side up on the bottom, it worked, if the other, it didn't. You might want to straighten the shank. Don't know if heating it will hurt it's strength so might want to ask before applying torch.

A fortyfive pound CQR is a good anchor for a 20,000# boat. Won't find many 50' boats that are that light. CQR's are a drug on the market these days. Have sold/traded two 35# CQR's in excellent condition for around $100

Re: ground tackle for a 40-50+ footer

Ive welded up a couple of statues useing CQR anchors, they sold pretty well, most I paid was from west marines used stock, 25 bucks for a 35 lb real CQR, LOL not bad mouthing these anchors, they had thier day ! but with the new style ones available today they are a drag on the market !! Just my 2 cents
