Harken Midrange Mainsheet Blocks

These are 76 mm (3 in) Harken mid-range blocks that make up an 8:1 mainsheet system. They were original equipment blocks installed by Seawind on their SW1000 catamaran, which had a standard mainsail of 500 ft2. These are vintage 2002 blocks that were removed in 2008 when I upsized the mainsail. They are in good working order, sheaves turn freely, the ratchet can be turned on or off, all of the shackles, beckets, and ring dings are included. You will notice that both side plates are reinforced with stainless bar stock – which was probably done by Harken specifically for Seawind?

These are the model numbers for the blocks, from Harken’s website. Other than the rachet on/off mechanism, and the reinforcement bar, it appears that the block design has not changed since 2002. From Defender, these are the costs for new blocks:

76 mm midrange single w/becket, model 1541 - $107
76 mm midrange single, model 1540 - $95
76 mm triple midrange, model 1546 - $300
76 mm triple midrange hexarachet with cam cleat (1556) - $500

So total, that’s about $1000 worth of blocks if going new. Mine aren’t new, but they work just as good. $250 for the set, plus shipping. They will fit in a USPS medium size box and ship domestic for $12.35. Or I can meet someplace in Houston, or Clear Lake.

Boy, 115 views and not a single offer via the forum? Sold today to a sailor from MA who saw them listed on Houston Craigslist. Go figure.

You know the funniest thing Mike? It's only now that I've bought them from you on Craigslist that I see your ad on cruisers forum ...

To all concerned: just received the Harken Blocks that sailjumanji sold me and I'm very pleased with price, quality, shipping and communications. A pro and a pleasure to do business with.
